Jefferson was born in Calabria, a country that offers fruits and herbs that are unique in the world. The Vecchio Magazzino Doganale selects most of the botanicals used and picks them by hand, including IGP lemons from Rocca Imperiale, sweet and bitter oranges from Bisignano from the family garden, bergamots from Pellaro, oregano from Palombara and rosemary from Bisignano. Everything is processed separately, in hydroalcoholic infusion, taking into account the raw material and seasonality. Because of this, it takes over 11 months to assemble Jefferson without ever resorting to artificial flavors or colors. A linen cloth is the tool for filtering. Jefferson was the captain of a ship that was wrecked in Calabria in 1871. He found protection from Giocondo in the Vecchio Magazzino Doganale and created what he called Amaro Importante. This ship has been adapted and rebuilt to make it excellent today. Ideally served chilled or served with ice, surprising when mixed as a bitter substance or as a vermouth support.
